Today was my 3rd day at the UW. Everybody is really nice and I´m happy to have the opportunity to be here. :o) Work is also going quite well ... Hardi makes good proccesses with the lab work and I work on my 2nd manuscript.
This morning we acted as food tester. We had to try potato chips to find out which kind of them tasts different compared to the other ones. That´s the advantage when you are at a department which works with crops. We should do such jobs more often ;o)

The millenium egg experience

One of our Chinese housemates served us a so called "Millenium egg". Actually it is a duck or chicken egg preserved for several weeks or several months in a mixture of of clay, ash, salt, lime and rice hulls. We were really brave and tried a piece of the egg (Hardi was a bit braver because he tried a bigger piece than I ;o)). Our opinion: it tastes better than it smells :o)

It´s really important to mention at every entry that firearms and wapons are not allowed ;o)
