This weekend was really great ... it was stuffed with a lot of wonderful activities with our friends. Friday night: We went with Margaret, Brandon and Emily to a karaoke bar where we enjoyed a hookah and sang several songs. :o) Saturday night: We visited the Ale Asylum brewery to join one of the brewery tours. Sadly, all tours were booked up. However, we had a really funny dinner there ... I have laughed more than I have laughed for a long time. (by the way: Can you roll your tongue?) After the dinner we went to the "Majestic" to see the concert of "We Were Promised Jetpacks". It was a good concert, especially the 2nd opening act ("Bad Veins")! Sunday: Kathleen, our landlady, arranged a brunch with friends. We also invited Margaret and Brandon to come over. Everybody brought some food and so we had a amazing buffet with a lot of delicious stuff. We spent nearly the whole day in the garden ... enjoying the fantastic sunny weather and the nice discussions. Nevertheless, we (Margaret, Brandon, Hardi and I) also had a kind of scientific experiment this Sunday: We investigated if it´s possible to taste the difference between red and white wine when your eyes are covered. Our result: Yes, you can! :o) In the evening I had a speed eating contest with Brandon: Who can eat a bowl of soup faster using chopsticks? It is really possible to eat a creamy soup with chopsticks ... you just have to be fast enough. However, Brandon was a bit faster and so he won our contest. I think in my bowl was a bit more soup and my soup was also really hot ;o)
Yesterday night we had a dramatic situation in our apartment: I was sitting on my bed when I´ve seen that something is moving really fast at the wall right beside me and it was directly heading for my blanket. Hardi came over after he heard me screaming. :o) We´ve never seen such a bug before (see picture), but I figured out that it is a house centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata) native to South Europe. Anyway, I begged Hardi to remove the centipede but not to kill it. He made a good job ... he catched the centipede and released it outside on the back porch.
Yesterday night we had a delicios dinner at "The old fashioned" with some friends ... we also tried the famous Old Fashioned cocktail and some beers :o)
After the dinner, we went to a Ska concert. It was a funny evening and I think we should repeat this.
We got up quite early in the morning to catch the Badger bus to visit the Winter Pow Wow in Milwaukee. It was my 3rd Pow Wow and it is still really nice to see all the wonderful fancy dresses and to hear the drums and singers.
Back in Madison, Thing, her boyfriend and Shiya invited us to a Chinese restaurant where we had a super delicious dinner. by the way: Hardi tried a dish with frog legs and he said that it was really good.
After the dinner we played Pictionary, again. :o) But this time we decided that the members of the loser team will get a special "punishment" (see pictures) ;o)

the boys won the first Pictionary round and as punishment for the girls team they mixed a special drink (vinegar, grapefruit juice, pumpkin pie spice and Marsala cooking wine)

Friday night: We watched "Pioneers of Animation" at the Cinematheque. It was a nice collection of cartoons (e.g. Felix the Cat, Koko the Clown) with live accompaniment.
Saturday morning: Brandon picked us up for a visit of the Arboretum. It was the Aldo Leopold weekend and they arranged a reading from his book " A Sand County Almanac".
Saturday evening: Brandon and Margaret came over for dinner. We prepared mustard eggs with potoes, white cabbage salad and cranberry desert. After the dinner we played some games: Cheat (a card game) and Pictionary. It was a really funny and nice evening. :o)
Sunday afternoon: We went to the West Town Mall. We had a nice shopping tour and purchaded a lot of clothes. ;o)
